In case you cared: Yes! I'm still alive!

Holy moly!  It has been almost forever since I last blogged something.  Sorry.  The past few weeks have been crazy.  We had spring break, then some sickness, then some serious cleaning, then some packing and moving, then more serious cleaning, then some long distance driving, then some hotel living, and ending with empty house living.  It has been a bit hectic to say the least.  Our move was expected, but it came sooner than originally expected, does that even make sense?  The drive wasn't too horrible, with two kids and a dog.

A few things I learned from the drive:
-Size 4 Pampers can make it 100 miles without a leak (any distance after that. . .well, you'll just have to see for yourself)
-Even though your dog doesn't poop at all on any of the breaks you take, doesn't mean she doesn't want to poop.  It just means she's waiting until you go into McDonald's to eat and she'll do it on her blanket in the back of the car.
-Before the age of "are we there yet?" is the age of "I'm hungry".  This age brings with it: "I'm hungry", "Can I have a snack?" "Is it lunch time?" and "When can we eat?" (and this age cares not if it's been 2 hours or 2 seconds since food was eaten).

But we made it in one piece and I think my mother-in-law still loves me and the kids.  Oh, you didn't know, I made her ride shotgun and help me with the kids.  If someone makes an offer like that, I'm taking them up on it.  Now you've been warned.
We just missed a "door-to-door" move of our household things by one day.  This meant that when we did get our house, they wouldn't be able to deliver it for another two weeks.  So, as I type this, I'm currently sitting on a borrowed sleeping mat, in an empty house (listening to my son count as high as he can. . .he's currently on 136. . .we're a little bored).  The hubs offered for us to stay in the hotel until we could get our stuff, but I couldn't do it.  Even in an extended stay hotel, that just wasn't enough room for me, him, the boy, the girl, the dog and all our junk.  Plus, I couldn't find any of the clothes I packed in my suitcase.  It was a big jumbled mess.  I needed to move into this house if only to dump out my suitcase and throw my clothes all over the place (which I did do and now it's biting me in the butt because I have to pick everything up before the stuff comes).
(The boy stopped at 149.  I guess he was actually counting something.  Who knew?)

I guess having nothing gives one the time to do other things.  We've already been to the beach and LOVED it!  Tybee Island is fantastic.  If you've never been, you need to go.  And because we've chosen not to put the boy in school for the last couple weeks of the school down here (it's only kindergarten. . .right?), I can take them during the week, while everyone else is in school.  Is it horrible that while I type that, there's an evil laugh happening in my head?  Bwahahaha. . .

That's all the excitement happening in our lives.  Actually, look back, I suppose it isn't very exciting.  It seems quite boring.  Once I get our stuff, I'll start crafting again.  And I'll post pictures of the small things I managed to get done before the move.

Anyone know of any babysitters in the Savannah/Richmond Hill, GA area?  Probably not.

  1. Haha. Not exciting. Just think about all those people who only move once or twice in their lives. Hahaha!
Do you know about sittercity.com? It's like facebook for babysitters, and CONUS military get to use it free (or did as of a year ago). I found an awesome one through there!
